In the Studio with Holly Addi

As we gear up for our next solo exhibition as part of our ongoing featured artist series, “Gather at Gregg”, we are excited to share a sneak peek into Holly’s ‘et blanc’ series!

Holly’s brand new collection of original paintings are light & modern with a Scandinavian influence. She uses a mixture of acrylic, charcoal, & watercolor. This collection is inspired by Holly’s love for simplicity and all of the white that allows us the breathe.

“Just as we need day, we need night.  Just as we need darkness, we need light. With so many facets of colors, ‘et blanc’ is embracing ‘white’.”

Holly starts each day with coffee. She makes sure her teen girls are off to school, and then heads to the studio along with her doodle dogs Henri, Rufus & Fred. She spends most days at her studio painting and when she’s not in the studio, she’s off being inspired by what the universe brings to her.

Each piece starts with a story. A melding of angles in motion, a rhythm of scent, a memory of a dream. Holly is constantly looking for the inner dynamics, angles, or reference to an imperfect state that creates a sense of beauty through harmony.

She seeks imperfection, angular perspectives and compositions that are felt rather than understood. This is Holly’s art philosophy: that in this world we live in, there is beauty in not just the ‘perfect’ but finding beauty in ‘imperfection’ does exist.

The launch event will feature vignettes curated by STEEL+PLANK, an Athens-based collective of makers & furniture designers. Join the tribe & Gather at Gregg on Saturday, February 16th 11:00am – 3:00pm to admire this fresh, contemporary mix of artwork & furniture!
