ABOUT ARTIST
Elaine Burge
Elaine is a contemporary Southern artist whose paintings explore the enduring relationship between people, animals, and the landscapes they inhabit. Working from her studio in Georgia, she draws deeply from the visual language of the American South—the land, native wildlife, and the quiet rhythms of rural life.
Her practice is grounded in observation, but guided by intuition. Rather than simply documenting the natural world, she distills its forms and character into paintings that balance recognizable subject matter with expressive mark-making and a contemporary sensibility. Growing up and working in close proximity to the land has shaped her understanding of nature as both subject and source of connection. Rich color, layered surfaces, and a strong sense of composition give her work a distinctive presence, allowing familiar subjects to feel unexpectedly new.
Her work has been exhibited and collected by private collectors throughout the United States. In addition to her original paintings, she creates commissioned works and explores applications of her imagery across decorative and functional forms, extending her interest in the intersection of fine art, design, and the lived environment.
She currently lives and works in Georgia, where the landscape surrounding her studio continues to provide an ever-changing source of inspiration.
